Maryam’s debut picture book, WHISPERS FROM MOTHER EARTH: CELEBRATE THE SKIN YOUR IN came out fall 2024 with Fair Share Publishing, and her second picture book, LETTERS TO MOTHER EARTH, is scheduled for 2026 with Reycraft books. Coming from a multiracial background, Maryam is a huge proponent of seeing those from similar minority backgrounds represented in her artwork; as such, she loves illustrating diverse and multiracial characters like herself. Maryam is half Mauritian and half English. On her mother’s side of the family there are Christians, Buddhist, and Sufi Muslims. Maryam is inspired by nature and the use of light to create atmosphere. She enjoys using mixed media and will often include scanned fabric, sequins, glitter and photographs to build up layers of texture.  When she’s not illustrating, she can be found enjoying walks through her local forest (conveniently located opposite her house!), going to yoga classes, and diving into a wonderful book with a good cup of tea.

As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, Heather loves to portray diverse characters and gets especially excited for any story that reveals the world from a new or different perspective. This is portrayed in the art in her picture books KATIE FINDS HER VOICE: A STORY ABOUT AUTISM by Amy McCoy, SIMPLY SKYE by Pamela Morgan, and MAC AND CHEESE AND THE PERSONAL SPACE INVADER by Jolene Gutierrez. Heather whole-heartedly believes that hidden within our everyday lives is a secret realm glimpsed through books, music, and children’s laughter. Holding a BFA in Painting from the Kansas City Art Institute, she is a member of SCBWI, and a Children’s Book Academy graduate, and a mommy. When not illustrating and writing, she searches out story ideas as an with her little ninja.

Lisa’s debut picture book, The Dreams We Made, released in 2024 with Paula Wiseman Books, and her next book with Paula Wiseman books, I Am Not Your Hat! just came out in 2025. Lisa’s lifelong passion for reading and drawing began at an early age, and she’s been wielding a pencil ever since. She is also the proud mother of two mini-humans, whom she loves spending time with. When she’s not creating art or new stories, Lisa indulges in tea-sipping and cake-eating, although she absolutely despises pairing socks, fishy fish and slugs that invade her humble abode. She currently resides in Derby UK, where she’s constantly on the lookout for new artistic inspiration and good cake shops.
